Innovative Battery Technology

Revolutionizing energy storage with cutting edge materials for the best and most affordable battery.

Sidra Energy has created an aqueous aluminium air battery that uses sea water and runs on recycled low purity aluminium

Sidra’s unique selling point for it air batteries

Anode - uses recycled common low purity aluminium

Electrolyte - runs on either sea water or an optimised salt electrolyte

Cathode - cheap, safe and robust air electrodes

At the moment there are no commercially available aluminium air batteries. The companies that are working to commercialise aluminium air batteries use:

Anode - high purity and expensive to produce aluminium

Electrolyte – corrosive alkaline, usually sodium or potassium hydroxide

Cathode – silver nano particle or other exotic material that are expensive to produce.

Sidra’s use of sustainable materials and its mission statement to create a true commercially viable products has resulted in an Air Battery that is ready to meet the needs of it consumers.

The technology consists of a complete cell design. A cell has five components:

1. Anode

2. Cathode

3, Electrolyte

4. Separator

5. Current Collector

Anode: metal material in our case aluminium – uses recycled low purity aluminium

Cathode: proprietary air cathode made using special material.

Electrolyte: uses sea water or an optimised salt electrolyte to increase performance of the cell.

Separator: used for the correct function and transfer of ions in the cell

Current Collector: robust material connecting the active materials to output terminals.

Specifications

Aluminium Air batteries have a theoretical specific energy of 8000 Wh/Kg

This is based on the theoretical energy of elemental aluminium.

For comparison elemental lithium has a theoretical specific energy of 11,140 Wh/Kg

Practically aluminium air batteries have a practical specific energy of 1300 Wh/Kg

Lithium Ion batteries have a practical specific energy of 240 Wh/Kg

Our Aluminium Air batteries have a:

Energy Density of      1600 - 1800 Wh/Kg

Specific Power of       150 - 200 W/Kg

Nominal Voltage         0.6V
